How do I get a "white card" to carry a gun on the job?

(Please read carefully)

1. You must be a licensee or an employee of a licensee (security company) in order to be issued a "Certificate of Completion of Course in Firearm Safety (the Armed Security Guard Card, also known as the "white card").

As an employee, you must already have a basic security work card issued by the  Private Investigators Licensing Board. Click here to learn how to get that card.

2. You must pass a course of instruction in firearms taught by a PILB-approved Certified Firearms Instructor (CFI).  Please call on us for this training service. For details on the course requirements click here.
3. Before taking the course, you must provide to the CFI:

Your current  Verification of Employment for Armed Security form completed and signed by both you and your employer.

Your current and valid work card or provisional paper.

You may not take the course until you provide both of these documents to the CFI.

4. Upon successful completion of the course, a serialized white card will be issued to you by the CFI at the range.  You are now legally set to carry a firearm on duty.
Note 1: You must re-qualify with your duty gun every six months at the range. We offer this training service often, so there's no worry of lapsing with your white card.
Note 2:  You must take a refresher course every 5 years, and re-qualify again with your duty gun then, as well.
